Cysts of the jaw and surrounding soft tissue

Tooth with cyst

A cyst is a cavity in bone or soft tissue surrounded by a wall and usually filled with liquid. They are caused by inflammation or developmental anomalies.

Therapy of this condition is a partial or full removal through surgery.

As an example, if a cyst lies in the maxillary sinus, the latter is opened and the cyst removed while preserving as much of the mucosal membrane as possible.

Removing of a cyst

Naturally, we use keyhole surgery, i.e. with an endoscope.

Cysts in lips or the base of the mouth are a common problem and need to be removed as well.
